Trust is often described as the foundation of team performance.
Yet trust is rarely a single thing.
It is formed by several components that shape how we relate to one another at work. Some of these components are visible in what we do. Others appear in how we speak, listen, or show up in difficult moments.
The interesting part is this: we tend to trust others through the lens of what matters most to us.
Someone who values reliability will quickly trust people who deliver.
Someone who values openness will trust those who speak honestly.
Others may look for empathy, or for integrity.
Without realizing it, each of us strengthens one part of trust more than the others.
